I wrote this track to help preschoolers understand the concept of 4 beat notes (semibreves) 2 beat notes (minims) and 1 beat notes (crotchets). The idea is to take one step, varying your steps according to the time value of the note. ie: always walk on ONE - for Daddy Robot walk on 1, wait for beats 2, 3, & 4. For Mummy Robot, walk on 1, wait for 2, (so you are walking 2 minims per bar) for Baby Robot just say 1, 1, 1, 1, and walk for every beat (four in a bar). Once they have mastered this, they can play this song on Boomwhackers using the C chord notes C-E-G. This can also be played on drums, or any rhythm instruments.
lyrics
Here comes Daddy Robot, Clanking down the street,
Can you walk like Daddy and clank your robot feet?
Here comes Mummy Robot, Clanking down the street,
Can you walk like Mummy and clank your robot feet?
Here comes Baby Robot, Clanking down the street,
Can you walk like Baby and clank your robot feet?

I love music - I love kids! Little Minstrels all began with a few classes at a preschool in 2005. Since then it has grown
into my part-time job and full-time passion, developing my own teaching programme and writing and recording songs to suit. These songs have stood the test of time and have been loved by the preschoolers I teach. I hope your chidren enjoy them too!...more
