I use this song to teach young children about doubling rhythms and playing on the beat. Through the instrumental I beat crotchets (the beat) saying walk, walk, walk. Then I double it (to quavers) saying run-ning, run-ning. When the children have learnt to follow these rhythmic patterns I introduce mimims (tap - WAIT!) and crotchet rests. For props I have rhythms written out on cards in the shape of carriages that the children arrange to build their own Rhythm Train.
